Placing Mechanism

  1. First it is searched for the closest Plot-Symbol Areas. From the found ones the closest above is used. If no one is found above, the next one below is taken.
  2. The Plot Symbol is placed slightly above of the insert spot in the Plot Symbol Area, if that position is occupied it is tried to place it further up.
  3. If that fails it is searched for a place right of the original calculated position respectively right to the top till the edge of the screen.
  4. Not until all attempts placing it on the right hand side fails it is tried to use the left hand side – as fare as to the edge of the screen.
  5. If no place at all could be found the error message "no more space for automatic plotting in the display" is displayed and the Plot-Symbol is placed on the originally calculated spot.
